Turbo coatings
Turbo chargers can get very, very hot.
Turbos are traditionally associated with high performance vehicles, but are increasingly being used on smaller engines to increase torque. The turbo charger compresses air going into the engine, providing more air to burn in the combustion process and thereby increasing power. The turbo, however, is powered by hot gases from the exhaust system, and this has two disadvantages:
- The turbo charger becomes hot and increases the under bonnet temperature, increasing the charge air temperature and effectively reducing some of the benefit provided by the turbo.
- The air the turbo compresses is heated by the heat soak from the turbo itself, further reducing the turbo's benefit and increasing the load on the intercooler.
Black Performance ceramic turbo coatings help in two ways.
- Reduce heat soak into the engine bay
- Reduce heating of the charge air in the turbocharger
The benefits of ceramic turbo coatings:
- More power - reduced charge air temperature
- Lower running temperatures, which have a knock on effect for the turbo
- Turbo spools up earlier.
- Reduces heat-effect wear and tear within the engine bay
- Better performance
Used in conjunction with our HD heat dissipation coatings on intercoolers, turbo coatings have a dramatic effect on performance and reliability. For more details on how to order turbo coatings, click here.
