Our Heat Containment (HC) coatings prevent heat soak from hot components - usually exhaust manifolds or headers, exhaust sytems and turbo chargers. It is a lightweight heat shield that is more durable and more effective than old fashioned heat wraps. It can also be used to protect body panels from heat damage.
In performance and race cars, heat soak into the engine bay has a direct effect on power output. Reducing under-bonnet temperature by 30C can increase the power output of a vehicle by 6%.
Cool air is your friend
Cool air contains more oxygen than hot air - fact. So when cool air is drawn into an engine, it has plenty of oxygen to burn in the combustion process. However, as the temperature under your bonnet goes up, the temperature of the air that is drawn into your engine goes up - and this hot air has less oxygen in it so your engine runs less efficiently. Black Performance ceramic coatings can reduce under-bonnet air temperatures and also dissipate heat away from intercoolers, which cools the air that goes into the engine once again - improving performance measurably.
